School Improvement Planning Process

School self-evaluation and improvement planning

School Improvement Planning is a process, not an event. Thus School Improvement Planning (SIP) is a cyclical process within a 3 year strategic framework. This approach is to help lead Lewis Girls’ on a journey of continuous improvement.

Improvement Priorities and Self-Evaluation 2018/2019

In 2018/2019 School Improvement Planning (SIP) will be integrally linked to self-evaluation processes (SE).

Any School Improvement Planning (SIP) has to be agreed by the Governors and put in the school website.

The identified priorities for this year will align to the New Inspection framework of:

  • Standards (A11).
  • Wellbeing (A12).
  • Teaching and Learning experiences (A13).
  • Care, support and guidance (A14) and
  • Leadership (A15).

The School Improvement Plan (SIP) will also focus on developing the four core purposes of learning (as identified by Welsh Government). This will work on developing pupils to be:

  • Ambitious, capable learners.
  • Healthy, confident individuals.
  • Ethically informed citizens.
  • Enterprising, creative contributors.

For self-evaluation, the main question will be:

  • What did our plans last year achieve?
  • What could (or should) be identified as a priority?

Reporting Performance

A full analysis of the annual performance of the school is undertaken in the Autumn Term. Results are published as a separate document as an appendix to the Prospectus and are also reported on in the Annual Governors’ Report to Parents.
